Requirements:
Must be an M.D or D.O. who is Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or bothwithadditionalBoard Certificationoreligibility in Hematopathology.
Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities
Strong general knowledgeinHematopathology.
Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse professionalwork force.
Experience with methods,toolsand measurements for quality improvement to improve work processes using a team-based model.
Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO,CAPand CLIA.
Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses as definitive in the care and treatment of patients.
Knowledge of all hospital and service procedures and policiesregardinghazardous material management, biohazardexposureand the use of universal precaution.
Proficient in providing excellent diagnostic and laboratory management services for benign and malignant hematopoietic diseases.
Committed to teaching and training of residents, fellows, medical students, and have a strong record of participation in peer- reviewedclinical and translational research.
Job Responsibilities(IncludeButNot Limited To):
Patient care services, for patients at UMH (University of Miami Hospital), JMH (Jackson Memorial Hospital) and satellites(JSMC,JNMC, JWMC)and SCCC (Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center) and satellites. Patient care service responsibilities will be focusedon the assigned specialtyor specialties
microscopic examinations ofhematologicspecimens, reporting of findings, and verifying coding diagnosisinthe computer, ina timelymanner(when applicable).
24 hours call coverage according to assigned division/s(when applicable).
Service productivity will be assigned according to the departmental compensation plan, previously approved byUHealthCompensation Committee.
Participate in educational activities ofpathology residents and fellows.
Participate in educational activitiesofmedical students.
Participate in collaborative research opportunity topursebasic/clinical or applied research, collaborate with other investigators throughout the Medical Center and seek sponsored programs funding from grants and contracts.
Participate in dailyquality assurance and in the Department of Pathology hospital committees and working groups.
Maintainhigh standardsof professional services so that the Department ofPathologywillmaintainthe JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
