    POSITION OVERVIEW

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The University of West Florida Department of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Legal Studies invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, a nine-month, tenure-track position at their main campus in Pensacola, Florida. The successful candidate will teach face-to-face and online courses. Typical teaching load for faculty is 3/3 between the Fall and Spring semesters. The start date is August 8, 2027. Salary is commensurate with experience and pending available funding. Summer teaching assignments may be available depending on the curricular needs of the Department. Review of applications will begin on October 26, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Holds the highest degree in Criminal Justice or Criminology or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee engages in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology or a doctoral degree in a closely

    related field from an accredited institution with documented specialization in Criminal Justice or Criminology. ABDs will be considered if requirements for the Ph.D. are completed by the start date. A JD degree alone will not be sufficient for this position. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching, the ability to conduct research and publish, and the ability to enhance the department. Area of specialization is open, although candidates with an active research agenda and the ability to teach courses with the programs'' core requirements will be given priority.
