The Secondary Education and Educational Leadership Department (SEEL) at Bridgewater State University is part of a cohesive and diverse campus community that provides professional opportunities for faculty advancement in teaching and scholarship and a clear path to tenure. Essential Duties

The Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership (SEEL) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position. The mission of the department is to prepare educators and related professionals to teach, lead, and serve in a diverse and evolving global society. Successful candidates will be staff members who can collaborate with colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our ethnically diverse campus community.

The successful candidate will educate students primarily in the Educational Leadership (EDLE) program, including the Education Specialist, M.Ed., Higher Education Administration, and administrator-licensure programs. Responsibilities may also include student teaching/practicum supervision, teaching advising in other undergraduate and graduate courses in the department.

The successful applicant will collaborate with faculty members in the program and the department as well as engage with College of Education and Health Professions colleagues and other internal and external partners in the program assessment, continuous improvement, marketing, and expansion of existing programs through the creation of off-campus cohorts. This position requires contractual scheduled office hours for student advising and consultation. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring graduate students and other related duties as assigned and/or required.

The successful candidate will display effective practices for diverse graduate and undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership/School Administration -Candidates who have not yet earned their doctoral degree may be considered, but evidence of an impending successful degree conferral by September 1, 2027 will be required.
  • Demonstrated expertise that will contribute to the department's understanding of P-16 educational leadership, including (but not limited to): school, district, higher education administration, or community leadership; school improvement; and/or organizational development.
  • Ability to teach courses on educational leadership, organizational change, education finance, or education law for students who are both K-12 and higher education professionals in synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities.
  • Five or more years of experience in PK-12/16 school administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and teach online graduate and undergraduate courses utilizing effective online/hybrid teaching strategies to promote student learning.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, service, and or scholarship that demonstrates a commitment to a multicultural work environment that celebrates multiple perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and commitment to advising, recruiting, and/or mentoring graduate students.
  • Evidence of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research.
  • Experience in program assessment, state, and national accreditation standards.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and advising, and to professional work in a multicultural environment that embraces excellence, diversity, and multiple perspectives.
  • Experience with State, National, and Professional accreditation Standards. MA standards preferred.
  • Record of professional activities commensurate with the rank of assistant professor.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

Salary is commensurate with experience in accordance with the Appendix O of the MSCA contract. A reasonable starting salary range to expect for a new faculty member appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor is $75,000 to $85,000.
