The Department of Sociology at Texas State University (San Marcos, TX) invites applications for a full-time lecturer position beginning fall 2027. The university has a teaching track that includes promotion; this hire would be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction.
Although the area of specialization is open, the main teaching need to be fulfilled is the ability to teach Introduction to Sociology. The standard teaching load is 4 courses per semester (4-4), typically consisting of 3-4 sections of Introduction to Sociology per term, with occasional opportunities to teach upper-level electives in the candidate's area of specialization. The Department of Sociology at Texas State University has a student-centered and collegial faculty that engages in a wide-ranging array of specialties comprised of both quantitative and qualitative methods. The faculty take pride in our strong teaching reputation, while publishing articles and books of national and international significance. The Department of Sociology offers B.A., B.S and M.A., M.S. degrees in Sociology and Applied Sociology. The department also houses an interdisciplinary online Master's program in Dementia and Aging, as well as an interdisciplinary Master's program in Sustainability Studies.
