The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (HNES) invites applicants for a 10-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position in the area of Athletic Training. This position will serve as Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCE) of Master of Athletic Training (MATrg) program. This position's workload is 60 percent teaching (18 credits/year), 10 percent research, 10 percent advising, 10 percent service, and 10 percent administration. Responsibilities will include supporting North Dakota State University (NDSU)'s land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will serve in an administrative role as Coordinator of Clinical Education for the Master of Athletic Training Program. Additionally, the candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training courses; conduct academic advising; contribute to researc; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

The Coordinator of Clinical Education is responsible for coordinating the daily and projected operations of clinical education for the MATrg program. In collaboration with the Program Director, the CCE ensures that the program maintains compliance with the standards established by the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the clinical components of the program.
• Monitoring, developing, and maintaining clinical education sites in alignment with the CAATE standards.
• Maintaining and organizing all clinical education documentation through Typhon.
• Conducting clinical site evaluations.
• Facilitating professional development opportunities for preceptors.
• Collaborating with personnel across multiple entities to foster positive and sustainable relationships among the program, university, clinical partners, and broader community.
• Maintaining Board of Certification (BOC) Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Provider documentation.
• Recruiting and meeting with prospective MATrg students.

The student focused MATrg program was developed in 2006, and the mission is to prepare entry-level athletic trainers to practice evidence-based medicine in a transformative health care environment. Currently, the program is 45 total credits and has a wide range of clinical sites with 40 clinical placements and 50 clinical preceptors. The HNES department is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences and includes three undergraduate programs, four graduate programs, and 15 faculty members. There are approximately 430 undergraduates and 100 graduate students within the department (https://www.ndsu.edu/hnes/).

Work Schedule: Full-time, 10-month, Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position

Hiring Range: $68,000-$72,000

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Doctoral degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited institution (ABD will be considered providing degree completion occurs by July 15, 2027)

2. Certified Athletic Trainer

3. Eligible for Licensure in the state of North Dakota

4. Understanding of CAATE standards

5. Evidence of successful higher education teaching experience

6. Effective oral and written communication skills

7. Commitment to inclusion

8. Potential to conduct research, creative or scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as a Coordinator of Clinical Education or Program Director

2. Documented clinical practice experience

3. Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and outcome measurements

4. CPR Instructor Certification
