JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Professor of Psychology position is responsible for teaching courses in the discipline area of Psychology.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Teaches a typical load of 12 semester-hours of undergraduate courses each semester in Psychology in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. • Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulates class discussions, and ensures student engagement. • Provides advisement and academic support to students. • Maintains class-related records and assesses student performance. • Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. • Participates in departmental, college, and university-required activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a masters degree including 18 hours in Psychology or a related field. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level in traditional classroom settings and/or an established interest in scholarship to seek publications in refereed journals and other scholarly publications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. from an accredited institution. Three or more years of teaching experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment within a university setting providing both in-person and online instruction. Utilizing standard office equipment including computers, telephones, and email, along with technology-based learning materials and learning management systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements of the job will consist of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time while instructing and/or engaging in meetings.
