Job Summary
Middle Georgia State University is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist and educator to serve as Faculty in the Department of Respiratory Therapy (RESP). The faculty position will be responsible for didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction, working collaboratively with the Chair, as well as other faculty. Position will contribute to maintaining program accreditation. This position includes functions related to teaching undergraduate level courses; advising undergraduate students; instructing undergraduate laboratories and clinical experiences; engaging in scholarly activities in areas relevant to the department and university; engaging in community and experiential learning opportunities, and assuming departmental, school and university committee responsibilities and representing the department and university interests internally and externally. The faculty will work closely with the Chair and Director of Clinical Education, other departments and partners with other academic units as required. The faculty is responsible for curricular development, innovation, and helping integrate pedagogy into the RESP program. This includes creating novel signature assignments, working on assignment mapping in courses, course design work that supports continuing development, and implementation of curriculum as an instrument of teaching learning and assessment. Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
Minimum undergraduate discipline training degree of a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy.
Minimum of master¿s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), with Master of Science in Cardiopulmonary Science (or related) preferred.
Required Experience
A minimum of 5 years¿ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
A minimum of 3 years¿ experience in clinical critical care and 1 year of teaching/clinical instruction experience in an accredited Respiratory Care program.
Other Required Qualifications
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners, or the ability to acquire.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
Preferred Experience
Experience in scholarly research activities and publication.
Experience in adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient respiratory care.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Certifications and Instructor status in Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Credentials in National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) specialty areas such as Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NP-S), Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C).
