Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering

The Department of Engineering in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Transportation at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Electrical Engineering, starting Fall 2026.

Position and Duties

South Carolina State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in the newly established undergraduate degree program in Electrical Engineering. The selected candidate will be expected to perform the following functions:

• Develop and teach courses in the Electrical Engineering program.
• Develop and conduct lab experiments in Electrical Engineering.
• Conduct research and engage in scholarly activities, including seeking extramural funding.
• Advise students and supervise student projects.
• Publish and attend professional meetings.
• Conduct assessments in accordance with ABET guidelines.
• Engage in continuous improvement.
• Engage in service within and outside the university.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field in Engineering prior to the start date.
• Demonstrated ability or significant potential for teaching excellence.
• Experience in developing and teaching Electrical Engineering courses and lab experiments.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Preference

Special preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience in teaching a wide range of courses.
• Experience in academic planning, curriculum development, and ABET Accreditation matters.
• History of securing external funding.
• Proven experience in dealing with a variety of students.
• Industrial experience.
