Assistant Professor Psychology

St. Thomas Aquinas College is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Assistant Professor of Psychology to join the School of Arts & Social Sciences. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, student mentorship, and academic engagement within a close-knit liberal arts environment. The Assistant Professor of Psychology will teach undergraduate psychology courses, advise and mentor students, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in service to the College and broader academic community. The ideal candidate will foster an engaging learning environment that supports student success and prepares students for graduate study and professional careers in psychology and related disciplines.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

• Teach undergraduate psychology courses in areas aligned with program needs
• Advise and mentor psychology majors and minors
• Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students
• Develop and revise course materials and curriculum as appropriate
• Participate in assessment, accreditation, and departmental initiatives
• Engage in scholarship, professional development, and/or research activities
• Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts within the Psychology program
• Participate in College governance, committee work, and campus activities
• Support the mission and values of St. Thomas Aquinas College

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology; ABD candidates near completion may be considered
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Ability to teach a range of psychology courses, including reading/writing methods, statistics, and experimental, as well as upper-level courses in area(s) of expertise
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Prior college teaching experience preferred
• Experience with student advising, mentoring, or research supervision is preferred

Salary

The salary for this position is $64,000-$66,000. The provided rate reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
