    Position Summary

    The Department of Economics at Michigan State University in East Lansing invites applications for a tenure-system Assistant Professor in microeconomic theory with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2027. We are especially interested in candidates doing work in information economics but are open to excellent candidates in all subfields of microeconomic theory.

    Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2026, and will continue until a suitable candidate is identified.

    Please note that this is a union position represented by the Union of Tenure System Faculty (UTSF). The university is working with the union to establish a collective bargaining agreement

    Required Degree

    Doctorate -Economics or related field

    Minimum Requirements

    • Research interest primarily in information economics or related subfields of microeconomic theory.
    • A well-defined research agenda with a track record of scholarly contributions and potential for high-impact peer review publication.
    • Doctorate (A PhD is expected to be conferred by August 1, 2027.)

    Desired Qualifications

    • Potential for high-quality instruction and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    • Potential for pursuing external funding
    • Demonstrated ability and/or potential to provide service to the Department, the University, and the profession, and to work with students and faculty from a variety of backgrounds.
