Job Summary
The School of Social Sciences at Troy University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science to teach courses in American Politics. The School of Social Sciences houses a vibrant community of scholars in the fields of Anthropology, Criminology, Sociology, Legal Studies, and Political Science. The anticipated start date is August 2026.
We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Political Science or Government to support the growth and development of our Political Science major and associated student organizations. Doctoral candidates who are ABD and near graduation will also be considered. If hired, the candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours per semester, with a 44 teaching load in a combination of face-to-face and online undergraduate courses focused on American national government, legislative politics, executive politics, and bureaucracy, political methodology, and other advanced subjects within their expertise.
We highly encourage applicants whose research focuses on any of the following areas, including but not limited to:
• Legislative politics • Campaigns and elections • Executive politics and the separation of powers
The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda, mentor and advise students, and provide service to the department, college, university, and community. The successful candidate will also support the growth of the Political Science major and involve undergraduate students in research opportunities.
