Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager | Civil Construction, Leesburg, VA will:

• Support or manage the full project lifecycle for IDIQ, task order, design-build, and lump-sum construction projects.
• Track and maintain project controls including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedules, quality, safety, and closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with design teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely project execution.
• Review, process, and manage project submittals and shop drawings to support construction activities.
• Assist with change management activities including pricing, estimating, documentation, vendor coordination, and proposal development.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimating efforts using digital and traditional methods.
• Develop, update, and communicate project schedules using construction scheduling software.
• Support project layout coordination, control drawings, constructability reviews, and dimensional planning activities.
• Assist with subcontract and purchase order administration, negotiations, and procurement activities.
• Generate and maintain project reports within company and client software systems.
• Identify project risks, resolve issues proactively, and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.
• Assist with project closeout activities to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews to improve project performance and reduce costs.
• Attend team meetings, training programs, and industry networking events to support professional development.

The Successful Applicant

The Assistant Project Manager | Civil Construction, Leesburg, VA will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with 2-3 years of construction project management experience; equivalent directly related experience considered.
• Experience working for a civil general contractor or civil subcontractor with estimating and contracting responsibilities.
• Understanding of commercial, institutional, and sitework construction means and methods.
• Experience supporting self-perform work and subcontractor management activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, construction management software, and project controls tools.
• Ability to read construction drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, and support project scheduling efforts.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the designated region.
• Ability to work in active construction environments, including climbing stairs and ladders as required.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred; First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
• USACE/NAVFAC CQC certification preferred.
• EIT, Associate Constructor (AC), or similar professional credential preferred.
• IDIQ contracting experience is highly desirable.
