Responsibilities:

The Related Companies is seeking an experienced construction professional with both high-rise and low-rise residential experience to join its Affordable Construction Management team as an assistant project manager. As an APM, you will be responsible for supporting the management and direction of the construction of Related’s residential building(s) rehabs and renovations. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge and experience that will permit them to assist in managing the renovation construction process, including but not limited to: pre-development planning, scheduling, logistics, cost management, and construction operations. In addition, the successful candidate must possess the interpersonal skills that will allow them to collaborate with accounting, finance, and management teams as well as the consultant teams and governmental agencies. This position will be based in our Los Angeles office, with domestic travel up to 50% within California, Mountain West, Pacific Northwest and Texas. Responsibilities include, but are not limited:

  • Perform daily on-site walk-thrus to ensure contract performance, safety compliance, and quality control with the intent of delivering a quality rental/residential product
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operational aspects of a project
  • The ability the make decisions that consider underwriting models
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Implement document control procedures for all construction related documents including contractual agreements and insurance documents
  • Draft scope review, bid and award process
  • Maintain change order logs and related project documentation
  • Manages the permit and DOB, MTA, and related governmental requirements where applicable
  • Update project budgets and schedules
  • Keep minutes for regular status and project meetings with the project team
  • Issue monthly project status reports including Co logs, schedules, and related project updates

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Anticipated base salary range: $90,000 - $110,000

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including, but not limited to, the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering and Management, Architecture, other related fields or experience
  • Minimum two (2) years construction administration experience with a focus on residential renovations
  • Supports decision-making processes across the construction process under direction of the Project Manager
  • A professional with excellent judgment and intuitive interpersonal skills
  • Some knowledge of architectural, structural and MEP systems
  • Construction/field experience and developing project management skills
  • Excellent communications skills – written and verbal
  • Some real estate or hospitality experience is a plus
  • An entrepreneurial, self-motivated and results-oriented individual
  • Highly self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style that responds quickly
  • Takes ownership for decisions and is accountable for actions regardless of the outcome
  • Superior organizational skills
  • A mature professional with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with accounting systems and information tools such as JD Edwards, Hyperion and database applications, a plus
  • Undergraduate degree required; Advanced Degree, CFA and/or MBA, a plus
  • Real Estate experience is a plus
