Assistant Project Manager

Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support a variety of projects ranging in size and complexity. This position will assist Project Managers with the successful execution of Design-only and/or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects and may independently manage smaller, less complex projects.

The Assistant Project Manager will serve as a project coordinator and liaison between the client, subcontractors, vendors, contractors, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders. This role will be responsible for maintaining project documentation, managing databases, coordinating project activities and communications, and supporting the successful completion of projects within established schedules and budget parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and engineering disciplines with the overall execution of Design-only and/or EPC projects.
  • Coordinate project activities and communications among Owners, Contractors, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, bid processes, contractor selection, and detailed scopes of work for downstream contracts.
  • Manage contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs.
  • Monitor and verify contractor compliance with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and material management programs.
  • Support contract administration, including change order management, field change directives, invoice approvals, and schedule management.
  • Assist with project controls activities, including project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure development, project setup and closeout within accounting systems, and field progress tracking.
  • Assist with the development of internal and external project reports, including project budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project status reports.
  • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.
  • Maintain project documentation and support contract and project closeout activities.
  • Maintain document control systems and project databases.
  • Track project activities, action items, deliverables, and communications to ensure project objectives are achieved within established timeframes and budget parameters.
  • Promote and support project safety and health performance among project team members, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety programs, training requirements, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable project management, construction management, engineering, or related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, including on short notice, as project requirements dictate.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-discipline project team environment.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and resolve design, drawing, scheduling, and project execution issues with Owners, Contractors, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers.
  • Experience with Primavera Contract Manager or similar change management software is preferred.
