Assistant Project Manager

Our client is an established Long Island City general contractor serving luxury residential and hospitality clients across New York City. Family-owned for more than thirty years, the firm specializes in superior-quality renovations of apartments, townhouses and single-family homes, with all finished woodwork produced in-house through its own millwork division. Project budgets typically run from $750,000 to $25 million.

The role

You will support a Project Manager across luxury residential renovation projects, based out of the firm's Long Island City office. For anyone living in Queens, Brooklyn or on Long Island, this is a materially easier commute than the equivalent Manhattan seat.

What you will do

• Assist the Project Manager with budgets, contracts, invoice approvals and schedule updates.
• Coordinate among subcontractors and help resolve issues on site.
• Keep drawings, RFIs and submittal logs current.
• Chase subcontractor contracts and certificates of insurance before trades mobilize.
• Support the closeout process through punch list and owner handover.

What we are looking for

• Two or more years assisting on residential construction projects with a general contractor.
• Exposure to high-end or luxury residential finishes.
• Able to read construction drawings confidently.
• Organized, and persistent about follow-up.
• Degree in construction management or a related field preferred, not required.

Compensation and benefits

$85,000 - $110,000, depending on experience.

• Medical coverage through UHC Oxford, EPO or PPO, with the employer paying 50% of the single premium. Eligible after 90 days.
• Company-paid life insurance of $25,000, at no cost to you. Eligible after 90 days.
• 401(k) with the company matching 50% of the first 3% of salary. Eligible after six months, vesting 50% at year one and fully at year two.
• 15 days of paid time off (120 hours). 40 hours are reserved for the Christmas to New Year closure, leaving ten days at your discretion. Usable after day 90.
• Eight paid company holidays.
• Weekly payroll, every Friday, with direct deposit from your first day.
• Pre-tax commuter benefit through TransitChek, up to $255 per month.
• Annual discretionary bonus, based on individual and company performance.
