Salary:$85,000–$100,000 (Based on Experience)

About the Opportunity

NorthPoint Staffing has been retained by a rapidly growing, well-established commercial construction management and general contracting firm to identify an Assistant Project Manager to support its expanding operations throughout Long Island, with future opportunities across the New York City Five Boroughs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an APM looking to continue developing their career with an established contractor that delivers a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects. The company offers long-term stability, mentorship from experienced Project Managers, and the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role while working on challenging, high-profile projects.

Project Experience Desired

Candidates should have experience supporting commercial construction projects within one or more of the following sectors:

• Ground-Up Commercial Construction
• Schools & Educational Facilities
• Self-Storage
• Warehouses & Industrial Buildings
• Retail & Shopping Centers
• Corporate & Office Buildings
• Mixed-Use Developments
• Multifamily Residential
• Healthcare & Medical Facilities (Preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with all phases of construction from preconstruction through closeout.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to maintain project schedules.
• Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and meeting minutes.
• Assist with project scheduling and monitor milestone progress.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Help manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Participate in owner, architect, subcontractor, and project meetings.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assist the field team.
• Maintain project documentation using Procore or other construction management software.
• Support project closeout, punch lists, warranties, and final documentation.

Qualifications

• 2–6+ years of Assistant Project Management or Project Engineering experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience supporting commercial ground-up and/or major renovation projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.
• Valid driver's license.
