Affordable Housing Assistant Property Manager


East Metro, MN | Full-Time | Onsite


We're partnering with a respected residential housing organization seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to help support the daily operations of affordable housing communities. This role combines resident interaction, administrative responsibilities, compliance support, and occupancy management in a collaborative property management environment.


This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional who enjoys working directly with residents while ensuring accurate records, regulatory compliance, and efficient property operations.


Position Overview


As an Assistant Property Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting community operations by assisting with resident certifications, lease administration, occupancy tracking, and compliance-related activities. You'll work closely with onsite leadership to help maintain organized records, positive resident relationships, and smooth day-to-day operations.


Responsibilities



  • Support occupancy and resident retention efforts

  • Assist residents through certification and recertification processes

  • Collect, review, and maintain income and eligibility documentation

  • Ensure resident files are complete and compliant with program guidelines

  • Respond to resident questions and provide timely customer support

  • Assist with lease renewals, notices, and general administrative tasks

  • Coordinate with property management staff regarding resident matters

  • Maintain accurate reports, records, and data entry within property management systems

  • Help prepare files and documentation for audits and reviews

  • Contribute to overall community performance and resident satisfaction


Qualifications


Required Experience



  • Previous experience in property management, housing administration, occupancy, or resident services

  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs and compliance requirements

  • Experience handling resident documentation and file management

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Experience



  • Affordable housing, subsidized housing, or tax credit communities

  • HUD, Section 8, or LIHTC experience

  • Recertifications and income verification processing

  • Yardi or comparable property management software

  • Previous Assistant Property Manager or Occupancy Specialist experience

Compensation
