Position: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney - Civil Division (4775-31)Location: Cincinnati, OHJob Id: 4775-31# of Openings: 2Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Civil Division (4775-31)HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.STARTING SALARY: $88,910.00 (additional compensation may be considered based on experience)FLSA: ExemptJob OverviewThe Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney is seeking to fill two positions as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA). The APAs' job duties will involve handling Litigation matters, conducting legal research, and drafting legal opinions or otherwise providing legal advice to County entities. The Litigation APA will participate in all levels of pre-litigation and actual litigation in court and before administrative agencies, and they will represent all Hamilton County elected officials, Hamilton County offices, and Hamilton County officers and Hamilton County employees who are sued in their official capacities.Responsibilities and DutiesLITIGATION APA – 10+ years of experienceAnalyze legal issues; conduct legal research on various legal issues.Prepare motions and legal briefs and conduct depositions.Review and prepare discovery requests and draft discovery requests to the opposing parties.Handle Trial Court litigation including appeal procedures.Prepare and finalize opinions of the Prosecuting Attorney for the signature of the Prosecuting Attorney.Work professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and the public.Perform all other duties assigned, delegated or required by supervisor or the Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.LITIGATION APA – 0-5 years of experienceAnalyze legal issues; conduct legal research on various legal issues.Prepare motions and legal briefs and conduct depositions.Handle Trial Court litigation including appeal procedures.Prepare and finalize opinions of the Prosecuting Attorney for the signature of the Prosecuting Attorney.Work professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and the public.Perform all other duties assigned, delegated or required by supervisor or the Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.QualificationsBachelor's DegreeJuris DoctorateAdmission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised CodeCritical thinking and decision-making skillsDetail orientedFlexible and quick-thinkingQuick learning ability when new tasks are requiredPrioritize all job duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilitiesGood time managementPossess excellent research and writing skills with requisite understanding of relevant legal issuesKnowledge of computers and computer operating systems with ability to learn Matrix case management system; knowledge of LexisNexis Legal Research productMust possess qualities of fairness, a strong work ethic, have the highest integrityMaintain confidentialityAble to conduct business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines and the Ohio Revised CodeAble to perform all other duties assigned, delegate or required of an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.Full-time role; paid bi-weekly; paid vacation, sick time, two annual personal days.Comprehensive Benefits Package: Medical, HRA, Dental, Vision, Employer-Paid Life Insurance, Public Service Loan Forgiveness Eligibility, Wellness Incentives, Employee Assistance Plan.Ohio Public Employee's Retirement System which includes a 10% employee contribution and a 14% employer contribution.Equal Employment OpportunityThe Prosecutor is an equal employment opportunity employer.
