About the Harris County Public Defender's Office:
The Harris County Public Defender's Office is committed to providing client-centered, high-quality representation to indigent clients. We seek attorneys dedicated to advancing justice through thoughtful advocacy and collaboration.
Position Description:
The Assistant Public Defender will work closely with felony and misdemeanor trial attorneys. This includes assisting with case strategy development by attending case review meetings, assisting with research of complex legal issues and jury charge preparation. The attorney will spend the majority of the day at the courthouse to be available to answer specific legal questions that arise during trial and provide assistance in court as needed. In addition to assisting trial attorneys, the attorney will represent a limited number of clients throughout the direct appeal and discretionary review stages of the appellate process.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Criminal or Civil jury trial experience.
Experience drafting appellate briefs
Licensure:
Licensed at least five (5) years.
Licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible for admission.
