The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Research Project Manager position. The incumbent, under the supervision of the Site PI and the Field Director, will ensure smooth coordination of activities related to a research study on substance use treatment adequacy among formerly incarcerated individuals residing in the New York City metropolitan area. She/he will work within a multidisciplinary research team to coordinate activities germane to subject recruitment, subject tracking, and other field-related activities, such as the collection of biologicals, in-person research procedures, and subject transportation, etc. The incumbent will oversee study recruitment as instructed, including distributing recruitment flyers to local agencies and placing phone calls to research participants. In addition, the incumbent will work in the daytime and evening as needed and will have a strong presence in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities germane to subject recruitment, subject tracking, including the use of computerized data sources to locate subjects lost to follow-up, and other field-related activities, such as the collection of biologicals, in-office participant activities, and subject transportation, etc.
- Provide regular monitoring and documentation of field work-related activities, such as maintaining schedules, training coordination, etc.
- Study recruitment efforts as instructed, including phone calls, for all waves of the epidemiological studies.
- Conduct study interviews and other data/sample collection activities both in-person and over the phone, as needed.
- Assist with the development and preparation of study questionnaires; participate in manuscripts, project report writing, and other research activities.
- Perform various administrative functions as the needs arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's/master's degree with at least (1) year relevant experience required. Bachelor's/master's degree in Epidemiology, Psychology, Biology, Criminal Justice and/or Public Health preferred.
- Technical Skills: at least (1) year of standard office technology and Google and Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Certification: Current CITI Program certification (Human Subjects Research / Good Clinical Practice).
- Core Competencies: At least one (1) year of human subjects research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with principal investigators, co-investigators and study participants. Team player with ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills and attention to details.
- Exhibited strong follow-through, as well as ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience/training in substance use and mental health preferred.
- Experience with Criminal Justice System Involved Populations preferred.
- Extensive field experience and previous experience with coordination of clinical/research studies.
- Familiarity with online research platforms, such as Qualtrics and REDCap, highly preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Evening and/or weekend/holiday work may be required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
