About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston in Boston, Massachusetts, the Assistant Restaurant, Bars, & Experiences Manager will be responsible for the overall day to day operation of the Restaurants, Bars, & Experiences division, with a focus on In-Room Dining operations. He/she will help oversee the overall division, ensuring the implementation and consistency of the standards of service and execution of policies and procedures in both the Banquets and In-Room Dining departments.

The Assistant Restaurant, Bars, & Experiences Manager reports to the Director of Restaurants, Bars, & Experiences.

As Assistant Restaurant, Bars, & Experiences Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervise In-Room Dining team, to include Order Takers, Servers, and Minibar Attendants; manage team schedule, payroll, and labor costs
  • Supervise Banquets team, to include Banquet Housemen and Banquet Servers; provide schedule and payroll coverage as needed
  • Complete detailed audits of table arrangements, service stations, food quality, and service standards during all meal periods, taking necessary actions to correct any deviation from quality standards
  • Conduct continual training with division, identifying areas of opportunity and coaching as needed
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new colleagues
  • Collaborate with third-party restaurant outlet, food & beverage division, and other operational and non-operational departments to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures are properly adhered to and followed in partnership with the People & Culture team
  • Carry out projects and assignments as requested by the Director of Restaurants, Bars, & Experiences
  • Handle guest comments and complaints and take swift corrective action according to Mandarin Oriental standards
  • Innovate food & beverage initiatives to elevate the guest experience
  • Find ways to improve the efficiency of the operations; of maximizing and increasing sales; of reducing costs without affecting the level of service or product
  • Propose and initiate when approved, new services and products for our guests
  • Other duties as assigned by management

As Assistant Restaurant, Bars, & Experiences Manager we expect from you: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role; experience in luxury hospitality is strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and manage change in a high-volume environment
  • Effective management, leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of the shift; ability to frequently push, pull, and lift carts or items weighing up to 25 pounds

Desirable:

  • College degree in Hospitality Management or a similar field
  • Multilingual

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $75,000-80,000 annually
