We don’t mind wearing more than a few hats and stepping in to help out wherever is needed. Our team is a group of knowledgeable and hardworking individuals who work, sweat and live passionately. We run together to solve a problem, reach a goal, get inspired, and champion our brand each day. We are in full pursuit to find passionate people to join us on our quest and bring our core values to life.

Joining Fleet Feet Chicago is joining a team and a community that ignites and promotes running and fitness. We pride ourselves in putting people first and know that what we do each day does not happen anywhere else, for staff or customers. We truly believe that running changes everything.

Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Retail Experience Manager (ARXM), you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping store culture, supporting and managing daily operations, and delivering a consistent, world-class retail experience. You’ll work closely with the Retail Experience Manager (RXM) to help lead the team, energize the sales floor, and support the growth and development of our team of retail sales associates.

This hands-on role works closely with the RXM, and focuses on creating an exceptional customer journey while empowering team performance through training, coaching and daily direction. If you are passionate about people, purpose, and performance, and love to lead from the floor, this is your opportunity to make a direct impact.

What You'll Do:

  • Work in tandem with the RXM to manage and support the store
  • Manage the onboarding, new hire training and ongoing development of retail sales associates to ensure excellence in service and sales
  • Lead by example on the sales floor, delivering the Fleet Feet Outfitting Experience with energy and care
  • Act as a manager on duty, for both customers and staff, directing floor operations and assisting with real-time coaching
  • Foster a high-performance team culture by setting expectations, delegating, recognizing achievements and encouraging accountability
  • Provide clear communication across the team to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and customer needs
  • Assist with scheduling changes, operational support, and the execution of store events and initiatives
  • Help resolve customer issues quickly and professionally, prioritizing satisfaction
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment
Qualifications:

  • 1 year of retail leadership experience in a customer-facing environment, required
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver an outstanding customer experience
  • Ability to train new employees, follow process and remain goal oriented
  • Leadership skills in coaching, team motivation, delegation, and conflict resolution
  • Proven experience with retail operations such as scheduling, inventory, and floor management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the RXM
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Passionate about team development, recognition, and growth
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and aligned with Fleet Feet’s mission and values
  • Capable of lifting and carrying 15–25+ lbs. and working on your feet in a retail setting

Benefits:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance provided the first month

  • 401k (pre/post tax options) after 1-year anniversary

  • Paid Time Off & Sick Time Off

  • Training and advancement opportunities within the Fleet Feet brand

  • Community involvement and community service activities

  • Passionate team members

We are an equal opportunity employer and believe having diverse teams in which everyone brings their whole self to Fleet Feet is key to our success. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives. That is why we prioritize diversity and inclusion in our hiring practices, our culture, and our engagement with the community.

Fleet Feet franchisees operate as independent business owners. If you apply and are hired at a Franchise location, you would be an employee of that Fleet Feet franchisee and not an employee of the Fleet Feet Corporation. We have opportunities within both our franchise locations and our Fleet Feet Corporation.

Additional Requirements:  Hours of work for this position may vary based on work schedule. Position requires moving around for periods of 2-4 hours without a rest break task sequencing, and using point-of-sale computers. Occasional moderate to heavy (10-25+lb) lifting and carrying, bending and reaching overhead may be required. Work environment includes substantial communication with customers, working in a retail environment with product displays and stockroom with inventory, and potentially slippery surfaces.
