Summary The Assistant Science Laboratory Manager - ChemistryPhysics reports directly to the Dean of STEM. This position works with the science faculty to assure the safety security maintenance complains and preparation of the science laboratories. Additionally the Assistant Science Laboratory Manager - ChemistryPhysics is responsible for managing equipment stockrooms and computers in chemistry and physics laboratories. Furthermore this position will train new staff orient faculty provide safety instruction and coordinate work with the other Assistant Science Laboratory Managers. The Assistant Science Laboratory Manager - ChemistryPhysics will prepare materials in support of faculty laboratory and classroom instruction. This position will also will travel weekly to multiple sites located in Lehigh and Schuylkill counties and be responsible for site laboratories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare labs for chemistry and physics. Prepare and analyze solutions and analyze unknowns. Set up equipment computers and apparatus. Evaluate new equipment and experiments including setup and maintenance of instrumentation in labs. Coordinate the use of equipment among multiple concurrent laboratory sessions. Maintain an inventory of clean and functional experimental glassware. Coordinate cross-train and work with the other Science Laboratory Managers to accomplish the workload. Hire train and supervise student laboratory workers. Maintains knowledge and compliance with federal state and local laws. Implement follow and model proper lab and hazardous material safety measures. Supervise proper disposal of chemicals hazardous wastes and laboratory materials. Maintain and regularly update both laboratory and stockroom inventories. Place Science Division orders and maintain the records. Consults with Science Division Coordinator for yearly budget development for both chemistry and physics in collaboration with the full-time faculty. Work cooperatively with personnel at LCCC. Develop and maintain both laboratory preparation guides calibration logs and repairinspection books for both Chemistry and Physics laboratories. Develop and sustain both the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Laboratory Management Plan in coordination with both faculty and other Science Laboratory Managers. Serves as a Chemical Hygiene Officer for the Science Laboratories. Obtain current Hazardous Waste Certification in accordance with the current federal state and municipal regulations. Participate in start of semester laboratory safety and waste disposal training for both students and faculty. Assists disability support services and science faculty in meeting required laboratory instruction accommodations for students. Attendance at departmental division convocation and adjunct convocation meetings. Operates both general office instrument specific and science software. Develops and maintains an operational manuals. Travels to and maintains satellite campus both chemistry and physics laboratories. Carry out other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Education Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry Physics or related degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Work Experience Proficiency in general office software computer operation and familiarity with instrument specific software. Knowledge of federal state and local laws pertaining to employees Right to Know chemical storage and hazardous waste disposal. At least 1 year of experience in laboratory work with inventory management and waste handling responsibilities.
Knowledge Skills Abilities Ability to work independently yet cooperatively with others required. Must have excellent administrative and organizational skills. Preferred Laboratory experience in an educational setting. General knowledge of chemistry and physics. Proficiency in technical writing. Bilingual Spanish. Familiarity with 40 CFR262 Standards Applicable to Generators of Hazardous Waste.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit use hands to handle or feel reach with hands and arms talk and hear.
