Employment Opportunity: Extended Day at Floral Street School POSITION: Assistant Site Coordinator 2026-2027 School Year

Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Site Coordinator for the Extended Day Program at Floral Street School.

We are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement, equity, and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom.

The hours for this position are 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday. Preferred candidates would also be available 7:00am-9:00am Monday-Friday. (Please note that Shrewsbury Public School employees may not work more than 40 hours in their combined positions).

The current pay rate for this position is $22.01-$26.89 per hour, based on experience. The 2026-2027 rates are to be determined pending School Committee approval.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Interact with students in a nurturing, supportive manner that encourages their involvement in planned activities, while providing structure and clear expectations for student behavior.
  • Ensure an environment that fosters positive self-esteem, age-appropriate independence, and reflects Shrewsbury Public Schools core values.
  • Assist the Site Coordinator with the following aspects of the program: oCurriculum and activity planning oSpecial event and field trip planning oParent communication oManaging staff schedules oPurchasing supplies oCommunicating with school personnel oCompleting administrative paperwork oMaintaining student records
  • Attend regular staff meetings, supervisory meetings, and professional development, which may take place outside of regularly scheduled hours.
  • Make decisions in the absence of the Site Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, recreation or related field, preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • 3+ years of experience working with children ages 5-12 in a school or recreational setting, preferred but not required
  • Strong knowledge of age-appropriate activities and behavior management
  • Works flexibly in a changing environment
  • Actively demonstrate the values of Shrewsbury Public Schools

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate with students, parents and other professionals.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb, run.
  • The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move children/objects.
  • This position requires a person who can work with many distractions, interruptions and still accomplish their objectives and meet established deadlines.
  • The employee must be able to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment, and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe.
  • The employee must be able to respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, behavior problems, etc.).
  • The employee is required to work outside up to 90 minutes per day in any weather condition that is deemed safe and appropriate for students.
