Job Title Assistant Softball Coach/Housing Assistant - Perkinston Campus Job Duties
Participate in staff training as needed.
Assist in managing hall openings and closings for student-athletes.
Assist with coordinating check-in and check-out procedures for student-athletes.
Know and understand college policies, procedures, and forms and interpret these for student-athletes as needed.
Understand and assist with the testing of fire safety procedures, providing leadership in emergency situations, educating student-athletes on college safety procedures, and informing the Office of Residence Life and the Business Services Office of potential safety and security risks or concerns.
Maintain complete and accurate information of student-athletes through Room Condition Reports (RCRs), floor plans, emergency cards, and key records.
Work through the Office of Residence Life to process room changes and hall transfers for student-athletes.
Report needed maintenance and repairs promptly.
Report unsatisfactory custodial or maintenance service to the Office of Residence Life.
Work with Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure that high levels of cleanliness are maintained in areas containing student-athletes.
Participate in occasional weekend duty as assigned by the Campus Vice President.
Transmit through both example and statement an impartial attitude toward all persons regardless of race, culture, religion, or sexual orientation. Recognize and respond to the special needs of persons with differences in culture, lifestyle, experiences, or physical abilities.
Mediate student conflicts.
Become familiar with the resources available to student-athletes and make referrals when appropriate.
Encourage student-athletes to participate in hall programs.
Maintain appropriate relationships with students and staff members.
The athletic housing assistant must remain on campus until the halls containing student-athletes close, before any holiday period, and should return to campus prior to the halls containing student-athletes reopen (no student-athlete(s) should be left unattended over any holiday or break).
Jointly responsible for student-athletes residing in the residence halls.
Work closely with the area coordinators in all aspects of assisting student-athletes in the residence halls.
Housing responsibilities associated with student-athletes in the residential halls in accordance with duties outlined by the Director of Residence and Student Life and Dean of Athletics.
Assist head softball coach with on-the-field coaching at practices and games.
Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes both in-state and out-of-state.
Assist with preparing the softball field for practice and games.
Prepare travel requests for away games.
Request meal money from the Business Office as needed.
Attend all meetings requested by the head softball coach.
Assist head softball coach with organizing and running a camp as a means of fundraising for the softball program.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence and Student Life, Head Softball Coach, Dean of Student Services, and Dean of Athletics.

The athletic housing assistant is an entry-level, full-time, 9.5-month, position with the Department of Residence and Student Life. The athletic housing assistant is responsible for all aspects of assisting student-athletes who reside within the residence halls and works closely with the area coordinators with regard to student-athletes residing in the residence halls.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(M2) Softball coaching experience.
(M3) Demonstrated experience in the use of computers and related software.
(M4) Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Master's degree in student affairs, counselor education, student development, education, or related field.
(D2) Residence hall management and/or residence hall supervisory experience.
(D3) Supervision of students and full-time staff members.
