Job Summary:
Assistant Sous Chef Cast Members for Walt Disney World Resort should bring a passion for culinary arts and a desire to learn that will help them deliver not only Disney quality meals but also quality Guest service. Our Assistant Sous Chefs directly assist the chef and supports them in their absence. They are responsible for all stations in their kitchen and are tasked with using a variety of skills and techniques to prepare meals in all dining levels, from Quick Service and Full Service dining kitchens to Banquet and Buffet dining. They will recreate Disney recipes and, at times, must be responsible for altering recipes to meet certain Guest dietary restrictions. Beyond knowledge of Disney menus, Assistant Sous Chefs maintain an active knowledge of modern and classical cooking styles in order to inspire future recipe styling and development.
Knife skills, food handling procedures, HACCP knowledge, and knowledge of basic kitchen tools and ingredients are standard for our Assistant Sous Chef Cast Members. Close relationships between all levels of Culinary, from Chef to Cook 2, allow our Chef Assistants to practice training and leadership development in this high volume, fast paced team environment.
For signature dining locations, Cast Members need to be reliable, have a great attitude, passion, love of cooking, and have a deep respect for the craft. Signature locations are ideal for Cast Members who are goal-oriented and interested in building their careers in Culinary. This is a fast-paced and high volume role and it is important that Cast Members have a strong attention for detail, good memory retention, and work with a sense of urgency. Learning is a fundamental aspect of the Signature Culinary role and Cast Members should be committed to continual learning and education. As a member of the Signature Culinary Team be prepared to push yourself to the next level every day!

SCHEDULE AVAILABILTY Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am. Please note that the principles of seniority are used to schedule all roles.
