We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Tanger Outlets Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. This leadership role is ideal for a retail professional who is passionate about customer service, team development, and driving sales performance while supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations.
Position Overview
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will partner with the Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of the store, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong sales performance, and operational excellence. You will help lead and develop the team, support business objectives, and ensure the store reflects Spring Step's values and standards at all times.
In the absence of the Store Manager, you will assume responsibility for the overall operation of the store.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Sales Performance
- Support the achievement and execution of store sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead by example through exceptional selling behaviors and customer engagement.
- Promote product knowledge and maximize sales opportunities through effective merchandising and customer service.
Lead and Develop the Team
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing development to associates.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.
- Help build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives outstanding service and a memorable shopping experience.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Build customer loyalty through relationship-based selling and personalized service.
Support Store Operations
- Assist with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure store merchandising and visual presentation standards are maintained.
- Support inventory management, stock replenishment, and operational compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment.
Business and Operational Support
- Assist with monitoring sales performance, labor productivity, and operational metrics.
- Support scheduling efforts to align staffing with business needs.
- Help control expenses while maintaining excellent service standards.
Loss Prevention and Safety
- Ensure compliance with loss prevention, cash handling, and inventory control procedures.
- Assist with inventory audits, stock counts, and asset protection initiatives.
- Promote a safe environment for customers and employees.
Support Company Initiatives
- Assist in the implementation of company programs, promotions, and operational initiatives.
- Embrace change and encourage team engagement with new goals and processes.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of retail experience in a sales-driven environment.
- Previous supervisory, key holder, or assistant management experience preferred.
- Footwear, fashion, apparel, or specialty retail experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to drive sales and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Experience with POS systems and basic computer applications.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders as needed.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
