Summary - The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for all sports assigned by the Head Strength and conditioning Coach while upholding the primary goal of the strength and conditioning department, which is to provide our student-athletes the opportunity to train consistently, sensibly and systematically over designed periods of time in a safe, clean and professional environment while attempting to improve athletic performance with as much sport-specific training as possible and decrease the chances of injury.
Description -
Reports directly to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and coordinates and implements all necessary aspects of the Strength & Conditioning Program within the guidelines of the Athletic Department, New Mexico Highlands University and NCAA rules
Develop and implement strength programs for multiple sports
Teach proper execution, techniques, and safety for all lifts and/or movement drills
Communicate and work in partnership with athletic trainers to provide an integrated program of injury prevention, reconditioning, and performance training
Implement necessary safety measures in weight room while conducting strength and conditioning programs
Assist with setting weight room schedule for various teams
Supervise, schedule, educate, and assign duties to graduate assistants
Assist with other sport programs and the day-to-day operation of the training facility as required by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
