Cost for this background check is $57.00 to be paid for by the applicant.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Assistant Superintendent, Business Services under the direction of the Superintendent, is responsible for budget development and monitoring procedures; long-range financial planning and budget control administration; management of fiscal services, maintenance, operations, and transportation; food services; grounds; risk management; technology, contract management, and all of the areas related to facilities. Advanced training and related experience in school finance is required. The job requires a strong working knowledge of California Education Code as it relates to education funding and current procedures and tools. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills are also required. Must be familiar with the administration of facilities planning and have successfully managed assets of a comparable size organization. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assistant Superintendent Business Services is responsible for supervising the management of the financial affairs of the schools. This individual also establishes and monitors a program of accounting adequate to record in detail all money and credit transactions of the school district. Assistant Superintendent, Business Services works closely with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and administrators. This individual also assures legal compliance in all aspects of the District's fiscal services operations. Assistant Superintendent, Business Services will serve as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and Management Team. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: At least five years of increasingly responsible business office accounting management or other administrative experience. Experience in asset management, facilities planning, maintenance, operations, technology, risk management, and transportation. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business, Finance or Accounting. Master's Degree desired or CPA or higher from an accredited institution of higher education with a strong background in public school finance management; must maintain a valid California Driver's License and have the use of a personal vehicle.
