Assistant Superintendent

Location: Massachusetts
Job Type: Full-time

We represent multiple leading construction firms seeking Assistant Superintendents to assist in planning and executing construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and scheduling procedures. This role may be divided by project area or trade discipline, depending on the project's scope and needs.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Oversight & Documentation

  • Maintain and distribute construction documents, including plans, specifications, RFIs, bulletins, and field reports.
  • Manage layout, confirm, and verify the accuracy of field dimensions.
  • Verify subcontractor layout to ensure compliance with established line and grade.
  • Administer the Quality Management Program, specifically overseeing First Delivery and Benchmark Inspections, documenting deficiencies, and tracking them to resolution.
  • Continuously monitor job site progress and check all work for compliance with contract documents.
  • Document daily construction activity through reports, photographs, sketches, and software tools.

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Assist in creating and distributing daily and weekly work plans, including schedules and logistics plans.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and monthly client meetings, providing updates on project status and addressing concerns.
  • Compile and maintain all permits, testing, and inspection records required for project completion and acceptance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support the administration of the Safety Program, including pre-construction meetings, pre-task planning, and daily safety monitoring.
  • Communicate clear safety expectations to project teams and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor Field Engineers in their daily work.
  • Foster collaboration among subcontractors, field personnel, and project leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in construction-related fields.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
