JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant Superintendent - Operations FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Superintendent QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Mississippi educator license with endorsement in Educational Administration and Supervision- Career Administrator License 486 (Master's degree required, Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred). A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in educational administration, with at least three (3) years of administrative experience as a school building principal. This experience must meet one of the following criteria: (a) In a school with an "A" or "B" accountability rating; OR (b) In a school that increased its accountability rating by at least one letter grade during the principal's tenure; OR (c) In an out-of-state school with a comparable accountability rating or verified improvement, subject to Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) validation. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational functions simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively with the Board of Trustees, district personnel, governmental agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders. Ability to perform all tasks identified in this job description. JOB GOAL: To assist the Superintendent substantially and effectively in the planning, coordination, management, and oversight of district operational services to ensure safe, efficient, and effective learning environments that support student achievement and organizational excellence.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to the following: Assume leadership of the district in the absence of the Superintendent. Assist the Superintendent in the day-to-day administration and operational management of the school district. Oversees district facilities, maintenance, custodial services, grounds, and capital improvement projects. Coordinates long-range facility planning, construction, renovation, and maintenance programs. Supervises transportation services and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. Oversees district safety, security, emergency preparedness, and risk management initiatives. Serves as the district authorized representative in all student discipline hearings. Coordinates operational compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Supervises food service operations and ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards. Supervise, compile, and submit state and federal reporting, including documentation for Title IX and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). Serves as the Career and Technical Education Contact for the Corinth School District. Supervises district technology infrastructure, operational systems, and support services. Coordinates district-wide planning for safety upgrades, facility improvements, and infrastructure enhancements. Oversees environmental health, building inspections, and compliance activities. Collaborates with school administrators to address operational needs and support school improvement efforts. Serves as the district liaison with architects, engineers, contractors, municipal agencies, and other external partners. Assists in developing and implementing district policies and procedures related to operations and support services. Evaluates the performance of directors, coordinators, supervisors, and other personnel assigned to operational departments. Provides reports and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees regarding operational matters. Assists with strategic planning efforts related to district growth, facilities, transportation, safety, and operational efficiency. Attend all meetings of the Board of Trustees and prepare administrative reports or presentations as requested by the Superintendent. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Demands: Constantly required to sit, talk, hear and operate standard office equipment. Frequently required to stand, walk, and travel between district campuses and community locations. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: Primarily an office and school campus environment. Must be able to handle high-stress situations, tight deadlines and occasional evening and weekend obligations (e.g., Board meetings, community events) TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 days annually, Certified/Exempt, with salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with provisions of the Board policy.
