Qualifications
The Assistant Superintendent of Operations shall have at least five years of administrative and/or supervisory experience, including as a principal at any level, district level administrator, a preferred master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, and a New Mexico administrativeNM PED license.
• Applicant must have exceptional communication skills (oral, written, digital)
• Applicant must demonstrate skill in technology
• Applicant should be familiar with the procedures of bid laws, labor law, and appropriate procurement procedures associated with public organizations
• Applicant must be able to work cooperatively with general contractors and architects on various district projects
• Applicant must work collaboratively with district administration and directors in the implementation of district operations/functions
• Must submit and pass a background check

Duties
The Assistant Superintendent of Operations will:
1. Supervise the following support departments:
• Transportation
• Maintenance/Custodial
• Health Services
• Food ServicesAthletics
2. Such other staff members or responsibilities as the Superintendent may designate, directsupervision of new construction and annual capital projects.
3. Assist in the planning and development of the district facilities master plan.
4. Assist the superintendent in preparing the budget for district operations.
5. Evaluate district managers, including transportation, custodial, head nurse, food service, athletics, and maintenance/custodians.
6. Direct employee evaluation programs for all support staff.
7. Train support staff managers in effective evaluation practices.
8. Supervise the screening process, verify prior work experience, and ensure checks of support staff applicant references are c conducted.
9. Supervise the construction of wage/salary studies of support staff, including wage/benefit research on comparable positions in industry and other public agencies.
10. Review written support staff job descriptions for new positions with major job responsibilities and expectations of supervisors; provide for periodic review and revision of job descriptions.
11. Demonstrate positive relationships with patrons/community.
12. Process all building use requests.
13. Coordinate the summer school facilities and building usage.
14. Prepare bid specifications for purchases and services related to operations.
15. Supervise Workman’s Compensation and FMLA issues in designated areas.
16. Oversee the district’s liability and fleet insurance
17. Review and provide recommendations for district policies and procedures.
18. Approve the dissemination of information to students and staff on all building operations.
19. Approve fundraising requests.
20. Demonstrate positive relationships with patrons/community.
21. Pursue professional growth.
22. Assist the superintendent and transportation manager in making decisions regarding inclement weather days.
23. Attend Board of Education meetings and prepare such reports for the Board as the superintendent requests.
