Job Title: Assistant Superintendent

Job Description

This role supports on-site construction operations for multi-family interior renovation projects located throughout Washington, DC. The assistant superintendent coordinates daily field activities, oversees subcontractor performance, and helps maintain a safe, organized, and efficient job site. Responsibilities

  • Work on site daily at multi-family renovation projects in Washington, DC, ensuring smooth and efficient field operations.
  • Support the lead superintendent and project manager with day-to-day site coordination and execution.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor schedules to ensure work progresses according to project timelines and milestones.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and workmanship, addressing issues promptly to maintain quality standards.
  • Review and complete daily reports, including documenting work performed, manpower on site, and any issues or delays.
  • Assist in enforcing safety policies and procedures on site, promoting a strong safety culture for all workers.
  • Oversee interior renovation activities, including tenant improvement work, to ensure they align with project plans and specifications.
  • Communicate regularly with the project team regarding site progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site at all times.
  • Support coordination between multiple nearby projects as needed, ensuring consistent standards and practices.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction, preferably in general contracting or as a subcontractor foreman.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-family construction projects.
  • Experience in interior renovation construction and tenant improvement work.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate subcontractors effectively.
  • Strong supervision skills with the ability to oversee day-to-day field activities.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices and workflows.
  • Understanding of construction safety requirements and practices; OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to project sites daily.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with project teams and subcontractors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background with interior trades as a subcontractor or foreman is highly beneficial.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred and helpful for communicating with a diverse workforce.
  • Desire to grow professionally into roles with greater responsibility as the company expands.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing schedules and daily reports.
  • Ability to work independently on site while collaborating closely with the lead superintendent and project manager.

Work Environment

This is a field-based position with work performed on site at multi-family renovation projects in Washington, DC. The schedule is five days per week on site. Projects are all located within DC proper and are typically within a 10-15 minute drive of each other, allowing for efficient movement between sites when needed. The work environment is an active construction setting focused on interior renovations and tenant improvements, requiring consistent adherence to safety practices and coordination among multiple subcontractors. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr.

They are offer 2 weeks PTO & 11 Federal Holidays to all employees.
