Assistant Supervisor - Shipping
Position Summary
The Assistant Supervisor provides leadership support to the Shipping Department by assisting in the coordination of daily operations, workforce management, and overall department performance. This role plays a key part in ensuring customer orders are processed and shipped accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining quality, safety, and operational standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor department workflow to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer orders
Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating daily shipping operations
Support supervision of employees directly or through team leads, including training, performance management, and development
Coordinate carrier pickup schedules and ensure alignment with shipping timelines
Assist in managing employee performance, including onboarding new hires and ensuring ongoing training is up to date
Support the planning and execution of department activities in a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company policies and procedures
Oversee incoming stock and supplies for the department
Ensure compliance with quality standards, including housekeeping and cleanliness of work areas
Operate department-specific equipment as needed
Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues in a timely manner
Support a high-volume shipping operation that may run 24/7 during peak periods
Demonstrate flexibility to support various shifts as needed
Support supervision of approximately 40 employees during non-peak periods and up to 300 temporary employees during peak seasons
