Assistant Teacher -- Barnard College Center for Toddler Development

This part-time position is for an assistant teacher to collaborate with the teaching team in fulfilling classroom goals.
Hours: Wednesday mornings 8:45AM-12:45PM and/or Monday and Thursday afternoons from 12:45-4:45PM. Occasional additional meetings may be required.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development and working closely with Toddler Center staff, the assistant teacher will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of teaching in the classroom.

Essential Duties Summary

1. Assist in all aspects of the Toddler Center classroom, including set-up and clean-up

2. Along with the teaching team, work directly with toddlers

3. Participate in briefing and debriefing with the teaching team

• Commitment to learn about emotional life of toddlers & grow in understanding
• Strong communication skills
• Flexibility in approach to working with children
• Ability to work on a team 
• Ability to reflect on practices and take part in a reflective supervision process
• Desire to be challenged and grow in work with children

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completed a B.A. in Psychology, Education or related field
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work on a team

|Salary: $24/hr

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
