About the Role
Kindergarten Round-Up Childcare LLC is looking for a caring, dependable, and energetic
Assistant Teacher to join our team in Detroit, MI.
Our Assistant Teachers work alongside Lead Teachers to create a safe, nurturing, structured, and engaging environment for children. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, works well as part of a team, and is ready to be actively involved in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines, lesson plans, and age-appropriate activities.
- Actively supervise and engage with children throughout the day.
- Participate in reading, arts and crafts, learning activities, outdoor play, and play-based learning.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, transitions, and other daily routines as needed.
- Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, sanitized, and welcoming classroom.
- Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, and management.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and childcare licensing requirements.
- Assist wherever needed to help the classroom operate safely and smoothly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Patient, caring, dependable, and professional.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet Michigan childcare licensing requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Willingness to complete all required childcare trainings.
