About Us

At New Horizons Montessori Academy (NHMA), we nurture independence, confidence, and a love of learning through the Montessori approach. We serve children ages 6 months through kindergarten in a warm, supportive, and engaging environment.

We are currently seeking a dependable, caring, and flexible Assistant Teacher Floater to support classrooms across all age groups.

Position Overview

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and working with children at different stages of development. Floaters support classrooms throughout the school based on daily operational and staffing needs and play an important role in maintaining consistency and quality care across the program.

The typical schedule for this role is 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM; however, flexibility with scheduling is required based on the operational needs of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Support classrooms across all age groups (infants through kindergarten) as needed
  • Assist Lead Teachers with lessons, activities, classroom transitions, and daily routines
  • Provide nurturing care, including diapering infants/toddlers and assisting with toileting
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Supervise and actively engage children during learning and play
  • Build positive relationships with staff, students, and families
  • Transition between classrooms as needed to support staffing and ratio requirements
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • CDA or early childhood coursework preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of daycare or early childhood classroom experience required
  • Comfortable working with children of all ages, from infants through age 6
  • Reliable, adaptable, team-oriented, and willing to assist where needed throughout the school
  • Childcare clearances, FBI background check, physical, and TB test required (or willingness to obtain before start date)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required
  • Montessori experience is a plus, but not required — training provided

Schedule & Reliability Expectations

School operations require teamwork, flexibility, and dependable attendance. Staff are expected to work their assigned schedules and support classroom coverage needs as necessary to help maintain safe staffing ratios and smooth daily operations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $17–$18/hour
  • Paid breaks
  • Paid Time Off package, including accrued PTO and additional Holiday Incentive PTO opportunities (up to approximately 13 paid days annually for eligible full-time employees)
  • Health Insurance
  • 401(k) with 100% employer match up to 4%
  • 50% tuition discount for enrolled children/grandchildren
  • Baby Bonding Leave: 2 months unpaid leave + 2 weeks bonus pay after return
  • On-the-job Montessori training and growth opportunities

Full-time benefits available after 90 days of employment. Baby Bonding Leave available after 6 months.
