Applications received after 09/30/2025 may be reviewed depending on search progress and needs but are not guaranteed full consideration. __ The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor with a preferred start date of Jan 2026. This is a non-tenure track position; initial appointment is for one academic semester, limited to 06/27/2026, with anticipated academic year 9-month renewals. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will be expected to: - Teach Biomedical Engineering (BME) Undergraduate courses. - Teach and/or coordinate BME laboratory courses. This latter role may involve the training/supervision of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants. - Teach other courses in the Dept. of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (ECBE). - Assist the Department in developing student assessment and course review material for these courses as needed for program review by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The specific assignments will vary according to departmental curricular needs. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 1. A Masters or Ph.D. degree in Biomedical engineering or closely related fields such as electrical engineering or instrumentation. 2. Demonstrated experience in teaching BME courses (e.g., teaching assistantship, per-course instructor, adjunct appointments, etc.). 3. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. 4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. 5. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations. PREFERRED 1. Industrial experience. 2. Demonstrated experience teaching lecture and laboratory courses in an ABET accredited BME program. 3. Demonstrated experience in supervising teaching assistants in laboratory courses. 4.
