Assistant Town Treasurer/Collector
Treasurer’s Department 
SEIU GRADE 14
Hourly Starting Rate Range: $36.6278- $37.9769
Salary Range Exceeds Hiring Range

The Assistant Town Treasurer/Collector directs, oversees and supervises department staff, provides training and instruction as needed. In addition, this position is responsible for the deposit of funds in banking institutions, maintains a system of accounting for all receipts and payments, and manages the Town’s cash by ensuring that all previous day transactions are reconciled. The Assistant Town Treasurer/Collector analyses projected expenditures, revenue investments, cash position and other financial data while examining market interest rates and evaluating various investment options to make recommendations to the Town Treasurer. 

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, three to five (3-5) years of municipal finance, payroll, or collections experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience is also preferred. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of municipal finance operations, Massachusetts General Laws, departmental policies, and office procedures. Proficiency in financial and payroll systems, preferably Munis, is required, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and relevant municipal finance applications. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, as well as demonstrated skill in financial analysis, payroll processing, and recordkeeping. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, interpret and apply laws and policies, and maintain collaborative relationships across departments. The candidate must be capable of resolving complex customer inquiries through appropriate research and sound judgment. The ability to be bondable is required, and MCTA certification is preferred; candidates who do not currently possess this certification will be required to obtain it within four (4) years of hire.

This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the SEIU and qualifies for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, working 40 hours weekly. Building hours are Mondays 8:00am-7:00pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm and Fridays 8:00am to 12:00pm.
