Summary Assist the U.S. Attorney's Office by representing the United States in civil litigation and contributing to the protection of life, liberty, and property. This role supports federal and state litigation across a wide range of areas, including bankruptcy, civil rights, commercial, constitutional, employment, environmental, fraud, immigration, medical malpractice, patent, prisoner, social security, summons enforcement, tax, and general tort cases.Duties Work independently on a caseload, handle trial and appellate matters, and collaborate with colleagues to defend the Government's interests in civil cases.Responsibilities Represent the United States in trial and appellate courts.Manage a caseload of diverse civil litigation matters.Develop case strategy and conduct legal research.Prepare pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.Advise the Government on legal and procedural matters.Participate in settlements and alternative dispute resolution.Travel occasionally as required.Requirements United States citizen or national.J.D. degree and active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.Good judgment, strong oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.Registered for Selective Service, if applicable.Must reside in the district of appointment or within 25 miles.Successful completion of preemployment adjudication (fingerprint, credit, tax, and drug testing).Candidates should be committed to improving federal efficiency, uphold the rule of law, and support the United States Constitution.Qualifications Required Qualifications: Hold a J.D., active bar membership, and possess superior communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience litigating civil federal cases and/or a federal judicial clerkship.Salary The basic pay range is $65,563 to $171,487, adjusted by years of professional attorney experience and locality pay.
