ASSISTANT VETERANS AGENT
VETERAN SERVICES
CITY OF WORCESTER
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Veterans Agent for the Division of Veterans' Services within the Health and Human Services Department. Under the direction of the Director of Veterans Services, the Assistant Veterans Agent performs administrative and professional work planning, organizing, and carrying out programs/benefits from state and federal agencies to meet the economic and medical needs of military veterans and their eligible dependents who reside in the City of Worcester. The Assistant Veterans Agent supports the Director of Veterans' Services in interpreting the guidelines, recommending how they should be applied, and developing relevant operating policies in accordance with State and Federal law and regulations. The Assistant Veterans Agent provides customer service to and advocates for veterans and their families who are in need and provides referral services when necessary.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Honorably Discharged U.S. military veteran.
Bachelor''s degree from an accredited institution in social science, social work, counseling, business/public administration, or related field OR;
Any equivalent combination of education & three (3) years of experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position in lieu of the above-mentioned requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills including oral, written, and digital communications
Ability to obtain VSO certification within six (6) months of hiring.
Ability to obtain VA claims certification through EOVS and/or external accredited agency within six (6) months of hiring.
Proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
SALARY RANGE: $69,898 - $91,542 annually, full-time, exempt, with an excellent benefits package.
