Assistant Warehouse Manager

Location: Norfolk, VA Area (On-Site)

Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 DOE + Benefits

About the Opportunity

A well-established logistics and distribution organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support daily warehouse operations at a high-volume distribution facility. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, employee productivity, equipment readiness, and workplace safety while supporting the overall success of the warehouse operation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in warehouse leadership within food distribution, logistics, supply chain, or high-volume distribution environments and possess the ability to lead teams, improve processes, and maintain service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping activities.
  • Support inventory management efforts to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize shortages or overstock situations.
  • Monitor warehouse workflows and recommend process improvements that enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel and provide leadership, coaching, and performance guidance.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs for warehouse equipment.
  • Track operational metrics and prepare reports related to inventory, staffing, and warehouse performance.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Support workforce development through training and professional growth initiatives.
  • Ensure company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures are consistently followed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience in food distribution, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience managing warehouse teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and warehouse technology.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and operational process optimization.
