Position Title: Assisted Living Dining Services Manager
Position Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to create an enjoyable dining experience for the residents, staff, and visitors in the main dining areas in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Food shall be prepared and served in compliance with The Village’s established policies and procedures to assure that quality service is provided at all times. The Dining Services Manager reports to the Assistant Food Service Director and / or Director of Dining Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures a positive and enjoyable dining experience and carefully follows established procedures for merchandising, plate presentation, and service
- Supervises staff engaged in preparing or serving food
- Oversees service in dining room
- Trains all food service staff
- Leads and supervises all staff including conducting performance reviews or providing input on performance reviews
- Schedules staff to meet the needs of the department
- Resolves complaints and administers disciplinary action when necessary
- Evaluates and ensures food quality
- Arranges for equipment and maintenance repairs
- Responsible for assisting in providing a safe and sanitary working environment
- Promotes clean, safe and neat environment for customers, self, and staff; adheres to all safety and sanitation requirements
- Meet with clients / residents to plan special events
- Ensures special functions are serviced correctly
- Communicates any relevant issues, problems, or complaints to Assistant Director of Dining Services and /or Director of Dining Services as necessary
- Trains staff to execute special diet consistency
- Works with Health Services to communicate resident care needs
- Works with and trains CNAs for service during meal periods
- Maintain clean and professional appearance
- Adheres to company policies and procedures
- Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education
- Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information
- Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed
- Cooperate with staff of other departments when needed
- Represent the organization through professional demeanor and attitude
- Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- CDM or CFPP preferred
- Three years of management experience preferred.
- CPR certification or eligible
- ServSafe Certified
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- The ability to communicate with residents in English
- The ability to use independent judgment and discretion in dealing with problems or issues that may arise
- Good personal hygiene habits are required to comply with Department of Health practices and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work well with others, including staff, supervisor, residents, families, volunteers and the public
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be capable of prolonged standing and walking continuously for the entire shift
- Must be capable of frequent stooping and bending
- Able to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Sight and hearing, or the use of prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately is required for safety and communications
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Clean, well lit, climate controlled environment
- Subject to moderate physical and emotional stress associated with normal food service environment
