    Description

    The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University seeks applicants for the position of Associate Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance. The Associate Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance supports the mission of the Academic Support and Bar Performance Program by providing direct, individualized, and programmatic academic support to law students and graduates. Reporting to the Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance, the Associate Director plays a key role in delivering academic skills instruction, counseling students throughout law school, and supporting bar examination preparation initiatives designed to enhance student success and bar passage outcomes. The successful candidate will report to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.

    Position Duties

    • Provide individualized academic counseling and coaching to students across all class years, including students on academic warning, probation, or readmission, and students seeking to improve academic performance.
    • Deliver academic support programming focused on core law school competencies, including legal analysis, exam writing, outlining, time management, and effective study strategies.
    • Assist in the design and implementation of workshops, small group sessions, and courses addressing foundational academic skills and assessment literacy.
    • Reinforce a supportive culture that normalizes use of academic support resources as part of professional development rather than remediation.
    • Assist the Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance in implementing and evaluating academic support initiatives.
    • Provide individualized bar preparation counseling to graduating students and alumni under the direction of the Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance, including assistance with study planning, diagnostics, and performance improvement strategies.
    • Assist in designing and administering bar focused academic performance and support programs, including workshops, structured study programs, and post graduation support initiatives.
    • Support coordination with commercial bar preparation vendors and integration of vendor resources into law school bar success programming.
    • Help track student engagement and outcomes related to bar preparation efforts.
    • Work collaboratively with faculty, Academic Affairs, Student Services, and other administrative offices to support student success initiatives.
    • Participate in orientation, academic workshops, and informational sessions related to academic.
    • Stay current on best practices in academic support, learning science, and bar preparation pedagogy.
    • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Position Qualifications

    • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required.
    • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (active or inactive status acceptable).
    • Experience in academic support, bar preparation, legal education, or a closely related area.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
    • Experience practicing law in law office preferred.
    • Experience working with students facing academic or performance-related challenges preferred.
    • Student-centered, coaching-oriented approach.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively within a team structure.
    • Commitment to student success, inclusion, and professional formation.

    Work Hours

    Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and evenings as needed to deliver programming to FLEX students.

    Compensation is commensurate with experience.
