The Associate Director of Community Health Interventions and Research (Associate Director) is a leadership role that works closely with the Director of Community Health Interventions and Research (Director) on the clinical integration of community-based health workforces, strategic growth of CHW system integration, CHW intervention development, clinical and academic collaborations, project management, grant writing and reporting, funder relations, financial management, staff supervision, evaluation, and dissemination of processes and findings.
The individual is an experienced healthcare, social work, or public health professional who can work independently and with minimal oversight, take initiative, lead a team, and support the Director with higher-level duties such as building systems that make CHW work sustainable and scalable across Sinai Chicago (Sinai). They partner directly with the Director on strategic priorities and represent SUHI externally with clinical, academic, and funder audiences.
The Associate Director is a leader who combines programmatic growth, strategic partnership, and team development and who focuses on the big-picture vision for CHW integration across Sinai as well as the day-to-day discipline of supervision, quality systems, and workforce development.
The role is central to building a sustainable leadership structure for the CHI Intervention team, enabling continued growth while allowing the Director to focus on higher-level strategic priorities.
Responsibilities Include
- overseas management of grant programs through key stages of grant making, including but not limited to proposal development and writing, review, milestone setting, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Ensures all relevant grant-funded programs have written patient confidentiality and data management protocols.
- Leads the strategic expansion and integration of CHW (and possibly other community-based workforces) programming across multiple service lines (e.g., perinatal health, behavioral health, emergency department, care coordination/outreach, and inpatient/post-discharge work, outpatient settings).
- Disseminates research findings to funders, community organizations, health care providers and academic societies. Participates in and may lead the process of writing articles summarizing research findings and/or intervention methods for publication in professional journals and supervises and/or mentors staff in writing articles.
- Contributes to manuscript development, conference submissions, and academic research collaborations, positioning the program's work within broader scientific literature.
Position Requirements
- Must have a Master's of Public Health or other related discipline (MSW, MS, etc.) with at least three years management and supervisory experience and at least five years of relevant work experience (SUHI and/or elsewhere) and have a background in a public health field or related discipline (including epidemiology, behavioral health, community health, health services research, sociology, social work) with superior performance reviews.
- Experience preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems.
- Demonstrated leadership potential. • Highly proficient knowledge of public health and intervention science methods.
- Proficient in developing and managing professional, partner, funder, and community relationships.
- Ability to lead in the writing of articles and reports for professional journals.
- Proficient skill in presenting intervention findings, methods and best practices to large audiences.
- Ability to lead in the search for grant opportunities and to lead in the grant writing process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent public health practice, administration and research skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and administer strategy, work, communication and business plans.
- Strong supervisory and staff development skills.
- Experienced with financial management.
