The Associate Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the overall marketing strategy of the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC), which includes developing, implementing, and assessing marketing strategies, initiatives, goals, and objectives related to UAC services and programs. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing communications, materials, and services of the UAC in collaboration with recruitment and admissions, academic departments, including degree programs, the division of Student Affairs, and other functional areas within the UAC. The Assistant Director will also work closely with the Salt Lake City campus to create and promote the overall University of Utah globally to raise the brand awareness and reputation. This position serves as the supervisor of the PR and Marketing professional staff and student employees. The Assistant Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop a successful marketing strategy for the University of Utah Asia Campus.

Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communication strategies
  • Support institutional branding (UAC) and positioning initiatives
  • Plan promotional campaigns for programs, events, services, and initiatives
  • Analyze campaign effectiveness and audience engagement
  • Oversees marketing operations in South Korea and coordinates marketing activities worldwide.

Brand & Content Management

  • Coordinate the appearance of all university print and electronic materials, such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, and any printed materials.
  • Manage designs, logos, and graphic design work, while following the University of Utah guidelines and regulations and cooperating with the Salt Lake City Campus.
  • Ensure consistent use of UAC's institutional brand standards
  • Manage website content, social media platforms, and digital campaigns, and maintain content on the UAC website while carefully coordinating with the University of Utah staff and faculty.
  • Coordinate creation of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and publications
  • Plan and execute a result-driven social media strategy to enhance brand awareness.
  • Attend UAC events and produce promotional content.
  • Collaborate with the Salt Lake Campus to create content based on a holistic social media calendar.
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments.
  • Review analytics and create reports on key metrics.

Budget Management

  • Responsible for overall department budget allocation, approval, and spending
  • Monitor return on investment for campaigns and media spending
  • Coordinate with printers, media vendors, and marketing agencies

Public Relations & Communication

  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, including the Incheon Global Campus and partner institutions, in developing marketing content for the UAC.
  • Be familiar with services and programs on the SLC campus and respond or refer appropriately to online inquiries.
  • Maintain familiarity with university student information systems and learning management systems to access student information to assist as required.
  • Builds and executes communication and marketing plans for UAC.
  • Works proactively with the SLC campus and UAC personnel to ensure smooth, efficient marketing and public relations.
  • Provide creative directions and ideas for the marketing and communication team to assist with various internal and external projects.
  • Review and maintain campus branding guidelines and provide inputs for updates as needed.
  • Writes and edits UAC publications and promotional materials, working closely with the University Marketing and Communication team in SLC.
  • Support crisis communication efforts when needed
  • Prepare press releases, announcements, speeches, and official communications

Team Leadership

  • Supervise the Senior Communication Specialist within the division.
  • Supervise and manage student interns and provide ongoing support for their leadership development.
  • Responsible for staff management, monitoring performance, conducting performance reviews/management, and supporting professional development.
  • their duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Language proficiency: English and Korean - Written/Spoken
  • Satisfactory score on the UAC Staff Performance Employee Review Form
  • Current UAC employee status

Preferences

  1. Recommendation letter from current UAC supervisor

  2. Minimum 5 years of employment experience from UAC

  3. Leadership and people management
