Position Specific Description
This individual contributor role reports to the Transmission & Substation (T&S) Technology organization and provides project management and technical support for distribution facilities and grid control systems. Responsibilities include modeling transmission and distribution equipment within the GE/Alstom Energy Management System (EMS) and maintaining situational awareness displays for system operators.
The position supports Distribution Grid Automation initiatives, including Smart Grid development, field energization, and commissioning of equipment such as Automatic Feeder Switches (AFS) and Fault Current Indicators (FCIs). Serving as the single point of contact for projects within the service territory, the role requires independent decision-making and application of engineering principles across new construction and maintenance activities.
The successful candidate ensures compliance with NERC CIP and cybersecurity protocols, including EMS access and change management processes, and participates in required training and incident response. The role also requires effective communication to support project execution and customer satisfaction, participation in an on-call rotation for troubleshooting and critical operations, and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. A solid understanding of distribution system design and grid control applications is desired.
