Location: Arlington, TX. This is a hybrid opportunity offering a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. Regular in-person time with our Arlington team is required.
Note: Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Texas and have 1+ year of family law experience, including independently handling contested family law hearings in court. This position focuses approximately 60% on family law litigation and 40% on probate and estate planning. Probate and estate planning experience is a plus, but it does not replace the required family law courtroom experience. This role carries a billable expectation of approximately 120 hours per month.

Job Description
- Manage a caseload focused approximately 60% on family law litigation and 40% on probate and estate planning.
- Independently handle contested family law matters, including court appearances, hearings, motion practice, case strategy, and client advocacy.
- Manage family law matters from initial consultation through resolution while maintaining strong communication with clients.
- Manage probate and estate planning matters with meaningful autonomy and direct client contact.
- Handle contested and uncontested probate matters, including independent administrations, determinations of heirship, and muniment of title proceedings.
- Draft wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, revocable trusts, and other estate planning documents.
- Counsel clients on estate planning strategies and guide families through the probate process.
- Manage matters, deadlines, discovery, filings, and client communications with limited oversight.
- Work closely with paralegals and legal assistants on drafting, filings, case management, and administrative support.
- Meet a monthly billable expectation of approximately 120 hours while maintaining responsive, high-quality client service.
- Collaborate with attorneys across complementary practice areas when client needs overlap.
Qualifications
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
- 1+ year of family law experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently appearing in court and advocating for clients in contested family law hearings.
- Candidates whose experience is limited to drafting pleadings or preparing for hearings without independently appearing and advocating in court will not meet the courtroom experience requirement.
- Probate and estate planning experience is a plus but is not required and does not replace the required family law litigation experience.
- Experience independently managing client matters, deadlines, and case strategy.
- Strong legal drafting, research, communication, courtroom advocacy, and client counseling skills.
- Ability to take ownership of matters and follow through without extensive oversight.
- In-house and solo practice backgrounds are welcome if the required family law courtroom experience is present.
