    Pay: $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

    Job Description

    • Manage civil litigation defense matters from initial pleadings through resolution.
    • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, case evaluations, status reports, and settlement-related materials.
    • Prepare and respond to written discovery, review client documents, and analyze liability, damages, records, and evidence.
    • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, corporate representatives, and other key stakeholders.
    • Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, pretrial conferences, and other court proceedings.
    • Develop litigation strategy, evaluate exposure, and provide practical recommendations to clients, insurers, and claim professionals.
    • Assist with trial preparation, including motions in limine, witness preparation, exhibit review, jury instructions, and trial strategy.
    • Communicate directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, attorneys, and support staff.
    • Handle challenging legal work with professionalism, discretion, strong judgment, and increasing independence.

    Qualifications

    • Active license to practice law in Indiana.
    • 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience.
    • Experience with insurance defense, general liability, medical malpractice defense, construction defect, transportation defense, professional liability, long-term care defense, or related defense litigation.
    • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, case evaluations, and client status reports.
    • Experience taking or defending depositions.
    • Experience attending hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, or court appearances.
    • Ability to communicate with insurance carriers, claim professionals, corporate clients, or business clients.
    • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case management skills.
    • Comfortable managing a litigation caseload with partner oversight.
    • Proficient with Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office, and legal case/document management tools.
    • Professional, motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
