An established Michigan law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its insurance defense practice. This position is ideal for an attorney with experience handling No-Fault and third-party liability defense matters who is looking to grow their litigation practice in a collaborative and established legal environment.

Position Overview

The Associate Attorney will represent insurance carriers and their insureds in a variety of insurance defense matters. The attorney will have the opportunity to manage cases, conduct legal research, develop case strategies, communicate with clients and opposing counsel, negotiate resolutions, and assist with matters through litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle No-Fault and third-party liability insurance defense matters
• Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, regulations, and case law
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents
• Develop case strategies and provide sound legal advice to clients
• Conduct discovery and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation proceedings
• Negotiate settlements and communicate effectively with opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and other parties
• Manage assigned cases and meet applicable deadlines and client expectations
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to effectively manage caseloads
• Maintain strong attention to detail while handling multiple matters simultaneously

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing
• Prior experience handling No-Fault and/or third-party liability defense matters
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong negotiation and case-management abilities
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a legal team
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
